I began my career at Viridor in 2003 as a Junior Office Clerk and I have been incredibly fortunate to be given many opportunities over my time.
Across my 20 year career, I’ve had fantastic support from colleagues to show me not just how, but more importantly why, and this has given me a much better understanding of not only my business area, but of the company as a whole.
From being trusted to lead (and support) a wide variety of IT projects, through to training such as the management degree apprenticeship, there is always opportunity in Viridor and support available to realise it.

My role is really varied but a typical day consists of raising Purchase Order numbers, liaising with suppliers, dealing with queries and ensuring invoices are loaded to the system for prompt payment.
I’ve also taken part in projects and Viridor have supported me to do an AAT accounting course to help with my understanding of the finance element of my role and to further develop my career.
My highlight of working for Viridor is the people! A great bunch of people to work with and approachable Management.
James - Head of Carbon Capture Utilisation & Storage
I started my career as a Mechanical Engineer and joined Viridor in 2021 as a Performance Improvement Manager. I’m now thrilled to be leading Viridor’s efforts to develop carbon capture opportunities.
I’ve had fantastic opportunities to develop my technical, commercial, strategic, and business development skills, through the chances to take on new roles in different areas of the business. I’ve also received formal training opportunities, such technical courses in root cause analysis, as well as training to be a mental health first aider and a mentor.
I enjoy working in an environment which is supportive of growth and working with people who always take the time to coach and develop those around them.
