Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources. 

 

We have an opportunity in Avonmouth for an Operations Manager to join our team working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Energy Recovery Facilities are vital in supporting the UK’s ambition to reduce waste in an efficient and effective manner, helping to reduce the impact of waste on climate change. After reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) provide the infrastructure to efficiently recover energy from residual waste, meaning landfill becomes the last resort

 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will provide operational leadership to the team at Avonmouth , with line management responsibility for Shift Team Leaders and  other members of site staff.  Working in conjunction with the site leadership team comprising of the EHS Manager and the Engineering Manager, you will drive safety, compliance, staff engagement and best in class performance.

 

Through constant review, you’ll ensure that a cost-effective and high-quality service is consistently carried out across site, identifying opportunities for business improvement and monitoring site KPI’s.

 

As a strong and motivational leader, you’ll manage and develop all ERF employees in order to maximise their potential to themselves and the business.

 

Our ideal Operations Manager will have: 

 

  • Extensive people management experience within a large department/region at senior level.
  • Practical experience in the implementation of a corporate management system.
  • Extensive and proven knowledge of the waste/energy recovery industries.
  • Proven motivator with strong leadership skills.
  • Educated to at least ONC/HNC/HND level in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of ERF, power or related operations is highly desirable but not essential.
