Risk Assurance Manager
Our Vision is to be the UK’s leading innovator of resource recovery and recycling, transforming waste for a climate-positive future.
Viridor has a redefined purpose, a bold Vision, and an ambitious, market-leading strategy. We are investing in the future, and we need a talented team with exceptional people, who believe in each other, to help us build a world where nothing goes to waste.
We have a new opportunity for a Risk Assurance Manager to join our team, based in Avonmouth, hybrid working 37.5 hours per week.
We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.
The Risk Assurance Manager will lead the design, implementation, and execution of the risk assurance framework, with a specific focus on leveraging AI-driven and technology-enabled platforms. This role ensures that internal controls, compliance frameworks, and risk management practices are robust, automated, and capable of mitigating both traditional and emerging risks.
The role will personally deliver audits from scoping through to final report, undertaking process walkthroughs, control testing, data analysis, evidence review and stakeholder interviews, rather than operating solely in a review or oversight capacity.
The Risk Assurance Manager will be accountable for:
Control Testing: Perform detailed design and operating-effectiveness testing across controls. Conduct stakeholder interviews, site visits, process observation, transaction sampling and root-cause analysis.
Audit Documentation: Maintain clear, complete and standards-compliant working papers that support findings and conclusions.
Findings and Reporting: Draft practical, evidence-based findings and agree proportionate actions with control owners.
Remediation Validation: Retest completed actions and independently confirm whether identified issues have been sustainably resolved.
Platform Ownership: Serve as the primary subject matter expert for the organization’s proposed AI-powered risk assurance and automated compliance tools.
Data-Driven Insights: Extract, analyse, and interpret complex data anomalies flagged by automated systems to identify systemic risk trends.
Vendor & Tool Evaluation: Partner with our Transformation team to evaluate, implement, and upgrade third-party risk management software and AI tools.
