Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Cardiff for a Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The salary for this role will be £55,000.00 per year with participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

As our Safety & Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for the management and monitoring of Health & Safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work at site level. You'll be responsible for maintaining compliance with Viridor management systems and support compliance with environmental permits or licenses.
Implementing policy and procedure to deliver a highly compliant, quality led environment with safety at its core, you'll actively monitor, maintain and manage health and safety risks assessments, SSOW and method statements to ensure best practice and prevention of incidents and accidents.
Working closely with the Plant Manager and site team, you'll support the development of the plant to maintain high productivity whilst ensuring a no compromise approach with regards to health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
What are we looking for?
- A hands on safety professional with experience in industrial settings. Experience of an energy from waste facility would be advantageous and preferable
- Relevant experience within a highly regulated and compliance focussed environment
- Strong leadership skills to lead and develop a new team in a start-up scenario with a no compromise approach to health, safety compliance. Able to work with the Management Team to embed a safety and compliance focussed culture within a complex workplace
- Experience of permitted/regulated activities and processes, preferably within controlled emissions environment
- Knowledge of the energy from waste/power industry inclusive of legislative knowledge
- IOSH/NEBOSH safety qualification (or equivalent)
- Awareness of the relevant management standards ISO 45001, ISO14001, ISO 9001 and ISO50001
- Full UK driving license
