Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Trident Park ERF for a Shift Team Leader to join our team working 40 hours per week to include nights.
The salary for this role will be £67,013.00 per year, inclusive of shift allowance and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

As our Shift Team Leader, you’ll lead the Shift Team and supervise the day to day running of the plant, whilst striving for continual improvement, reducing health, safety and environmental impacts, and maximising process throughput and export. As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) complying with the Safe System of Work, you’ll also supervise contractors carrying out activities onsite.
Working with the management and engineering teams, you’ll plan, implement and monitor systems and processes through good practice to maximise the process and ensure health, safety & environmental compliance.
As well as completing routine drills of the site’s emergency, safety & environmental procedures, you will record all information pertaining to this as required. As an impartial and logical professional, it will be your responsibility to initiate investigations of accidents or incidents with transparency and objectivity to prevent reoccurrence.
You will also build and maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication across the site and ensure all visitors and contractors to site are inducted into the site safety and emergency procedures.
What are we looking for?
- Supervisory or management experience.
- An engineering qualification, preferably ONC/HNC or equivalent.
- Safety qualification, preferably IOSH or NEBOSH.
- A management or leadership qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Power industry, navy or process knowledge of systems such as HP steam, boilers, electrical generation and emissions.
- An ability to carry out team briefings and communicate at a strong and efficient level.
- Experience in Safe Systems of Work/safety documentation and systems.
