Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources. 

We have an opportunity in Exter for a Electrical,Control & Instrumentation Technician to join our team working 40 hours per week, Day Shift Monday to Friday with Callout 1 in 4 on a rota.

The salary for this role will be £49,129 per year, and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EC&I professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working collaboratively across multiple disciplines, and contributing to continuous improvement within a modern industrial environment.

The Role

As a EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site, ensuring plant equipment and control systems operate safely and efficiently. You will support other engineering disciplines when required and assist with contractor coordination to maintain a safe and productive working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
• Diagnosing faults and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Managing calibration programmes and maintaining accurate calibration records.
• Working confidently with instrument loop drawings, schematics and P&IDs.
• Conducting plant inspections and safety inspections.
• Supporting the supervision and coordination of contractors on site.
• Maintaining accurate reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Assisting with monitoring and reporting on critical plant assets.
• Carrying out risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.
• Working collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to deliver performance targets.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability, safety and environmental performance.
• Providing occasional support to the stores function when required.
• Covering aspects of the C&I Engineer role as required to broaden experience and knowledge.
• Responding to plant and equipment breakdowns during and outside normal working hours when necessary.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• Experience in Control & Instrumentation engineering within a process industry, power generation facility or similar industrial environment.
• Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Experience working with DCS and/or SCADA systems.
• Relevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within an industrial setting.

Desirable

• Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
• Experience with Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
• ONC/HNC in an engineering or technical discipline.
• COMPEX 1-4 certification.
• Formal Health & Safety qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience coordinating contractors and external service providers.
• Strong IT skills including CMMS, Outlook, Word and Excel.
