We have a new opportunity for a Senior Category Manager to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week.

 

The salary for this role will be £67,000 per year with participation in an annual bonus scheme and a car allowance, in addition to our great range of benefits. This role can be based of our Viridor sites, with an opportunity for hybrid working - this will be discussed further at interview.

  As our Senior Category Manager, you’ll have a critical role within the Procurement and Supply Chain team, ensuring that best in class support is delivered to the business. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, external third parties and continuously seek to improve delivery through a framework of Category & Supply Chain Management.

Accountable to the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain, you’ll lead the Procurement and Supply Chain of major strategic contracts, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to determine and deliver the Procurement and Supply Chain strategy, and manage suppliers and external stakeholders in the delivery of best value and lowest risk solutions to meet the businesses needs.

  Working alongside the team, you’ll ensure the function is perceived as a positive, significant, and value adding integral partner to the wider business.  

 

Our ideal Category Manager will have:

  • Substantial relevant experience of procurement including tendering, negotiation and contract management
  • In depth understanding and application of legal issues such as Contract law, TUPE, Fair Trade etc
  • Knowledge of end-to-end Category Management including market insight, business partnering, negotiation, on-going supplier management and governance.
  • Inbuilt desire to drive cost improvement.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop/maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Substantial relevant experience of procurement including tendering, negotiation and contract management
  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Fully CIPS Qualified
