Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.
We have an opportunity in Bargeddie for a Community Benefits Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our team working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The salary for this role will be £37,668 per year, plus car allowance, and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

Joining our team as our Community Benefits Officer, you’ll lead on the delivery of the community benefits element of multiple Local Authority contracts, by developing and implementing programs and initiatives that support the provision of benefits to local communities.
Working closely with the General Manager and Contracts team, you’ll liaise with the Local Authority and ensure all contractual reporting requirements are met, and that the delivery of community benefits element of the contract is delivered within budget.
Collaborating with Social Enterprise Organisations and Small Medium Enterprise to promote relevant support opportunities through events, seminars and training workshops. You’ll build and maintain positive relationships with our external partners and stakeholders, including:

- Local Communities
- Schools, colleges, universities,
- Engineering Development Trust
- Chambers of Commerce, Scottish Enterprise, Federation of Small Businesses
- Supply chain partners
- Developing Young Workforce
- Local Authority clients; Clyde Valley, Highland Council and South Lanarkshire
You’ll also manage the delivery of educational contract commitments, in particular, the Engineering Development Trust for the Industrial Cadets Bronze Award programme.
As an ambassador for Viridor, you’ll attend external functions and events, as well as organising and facilitating events and site visits to promote the value we can bring to the local communities.
What are we looking for?
- Understanding of long-term performance indicators, business priorities, capabilities and communications objectives
- An excellent communicator, credible and able to influence at all levels
- Diligence with a strong commitment to continually raising the profile and reputation of the company
- A full UK Driving License
- Experience of working to targeted projects with clear and objective outputs
- Experience of compiling complex and detailed reports
- Working knowledge of local authorities and/or business environment would be advantageous.
