Dayshift Shift Team Leader

Our Vision is to be the UK’s leading innovator of resource recovery and recycling, transforming waste for a climate-positive future.

We are investing in the future, and we need a talented team with exceptional people, who believe in each other, to help us achieve this.

Join us, as we rise to the challenge and build a world where nothing goes to waste

Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.

We have an opportunity at our Glasgow ERF for a Day Shift Team Leader to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The salary for this role will be £60,900.00 per year and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

The closing date for applications is 24th June 2024. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early if we receive a high number of applications.

The Day Shift Team Leader will be tasked with leading a team within the Operations Department and support the Operations Manager on a daily basis, during peak times.  You will also act as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and supervise contractors carrying out activities onsite. On a yearly basis, you’ll also assist with planned plant shutdown.

As well as completing routine drills of the site’s emergency, safety and environmental procedures, you will record all information pertaining to this as required.  As an impartial and logical professional, it will be your responsibility to initiate investigations of accidents or incidents with transparency and objectivity to prevent reoccurrence.

You will also build and maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication across the site and ensure all visitors and contractors to site are inducted into the site safety and emergency procedures.

Our ideal Day Shift Team Leader will have:

  • Power industry, navy or process knowledge of systems such as HP steam, boilers, electrical generation and emissions.
  • An ability to carry out team briefings and communicate at a strong and efficient level.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • An engineering qualification, preferably ONC/HNC or equivalent.
  • A management or leadership qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Confidence when delivering briefings and toolbox talks.
