Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources. 

 

We have an opportunity in Runcorn for an Assistant Shift Team Leader to join our team working 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift pattern, to include nights.

 

     The salary for this role will be £48,014 per year, plus shift allowance and participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

As our Assistant Shift Team Leader, you will supervise and direct the shift team on site, ensuring that processes are carried out in accordance with best practices and compliance standards. Health, safety, and environmental considerations will be at the forefront of your responsibilities, and you will act as the Authorised Person (AP) in compliance with the Viridor ERF Safe System of Work.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and monitor processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance on site.
  • Respond to and act on internal or external issues, concerns, or complaints, conducting follow-up investigations for any incidents.
  • Work within the Maintenance Department when required to carry out maintenance    activities and maximize plant availability.
  • Build and maintain effective communication and relationships with colleagues across the site.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and carry out other duties as identified to achieve site objectives.

 

Our ideal Assistant Shift Team Leader will have:

  • Previous experience working in an energy-from-waste facility or power station.
  • A good understanding of environmental health and safety within the process or power industry.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including the ability to conduct team briefings and write concise reports.
  • An engineering qualification, preferably ONC/HNC or equivalent.
  • A safety qualification, preferably IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Experience of coordinating and supervising shift personnel and contractors is desirable but not essential.
